I've never been good at writing unless I write something, put it down, and then come back to it later on.   I've never been able to put into words on paper adequately what my head wants to say out loud.   In as much as I've tried over the years for work, for fun, for photographic enjoyment; the words just never flow with what I think to what I want to say.   

I've recently had a photoshoot where the conversation just didn't seem to flow well.  I knew the things I wanted to say/ask but the words just never came out.  So the conversation got awkward, and my brain just kept babbling on... kinda like a downward spiral.   For me that's unusual as my wife would always say that I can talk to almost anyone, and find a connection where there wasn't one before.  In spite of the quietness of the conversation, the resulting images were pretty Awesome!   Mostly because of some new equipment.  I'd not wanted to spend money for new lighting, but am glad I did.  As my mentor would say, "Catchlights in the eyes bring the subject to life.", and without a doubt the catchlights did just that very thing.  I have to admit though, that in some of the images you can see the light stand pretty clear (something I have to work on - hiding or camoflaguing the stand.)   I'm looking forward to seeing what I can produce now with this "new found" passion and portable lighting.  

Earlier in the summer I attended a workshop in Minnesota, and met some pretty incredible photographers.  One of them being Tami, from Alabama- T.Darley Photography, (get her a shameless plug in there)  She and I have traded several emails since the conference, and her latest email was such an incredible uplift.

Her words:  ". The key is to make your own art. If it's something your soul loves, it will undoubtedly touch the soul of someone else. That's why we do this, to feed our own soul and to be glad it feeds someone else, as well!"

So there it is, plain and simple... Do it for myself and it will undoubtedly touch someone else.   Thank you Tami.
